South Village Apartment, 2015

A 400 square-foot one-bedroom apartment in a Renaissance Revival tenement building in the South Village Historic District of New York City. With street light from the north, and shaft light from the west, this little apartment opens up with transparent glass serving as the separation between living and sleeping.

The solid white oak floor accentuates the feeling of continuous space and provides a warm natural tone. The light-filled kitchen is a simple bar supported by a cabinet wall opposite. Custom wood windows maintain the historic character of the building’s ornate facade.
