Greenpoint Residence, 2023

Located in the Greenpoint Historic District of Brooklyn, this 1865 Greek Revival frame house has been converted into a spirited single-family home for a family of four. Layers of materials have been stripped away and new openings created in order to achieve a light-filled house with new systems and modern amenities.

The northeast facing glass wall connects the main floor to the yard while providing wonderful direct light to the vibrant interiors. The textured surface of the kitchen cabinets provides a counterpoint t the geometric wall tiles. The wide plank maple floors contrast with the dark cabinets and radiate in the natural light.

A custom Calacatta Viola sink sets the mood in the Powder Room and the Master Bathroom’s diffused light is absorbed by the dark terra cotta tiles, natural stone floor and white marble sink.
